Work performed in the Speech Psychoacoustics Laboratory
seeks to clarify the processing mechanisms involved in
human hearing, and the limitations to these mechanisms
imposed by hearing impairment or cochlear prostheses.
Relationships between basic psychoacoustic phenomena
and the perception of complex
signals such as speech are explored.
