The department is thrilled that Dr. Terrin Tamati has joined the department as our newest faculty member. Dr. Tamati’s research focuses on understanding real-world speech communication in adults with hearing loss and cochlear implants. Her research investigates how social, cognitive, and linguistic processes support successful communication in everyday environments, with the goals of uncovering underlying mechanisms and improving clinical interventions. The overarching aim of her research program is to enhance quality of life for adults with hearing loss by advancing our understanding of speech communication and translating findings into practical solutions. Her work has been supported by federal agencies, charitable foundations, and industry partners.
Dr. Tamati adds to existing strengths in the department and brings new expertise that will facilitate exciting new growth. In addition to great things she will do for our research mission, she will be teaching in our Doctor of Audiology program to enhance our clinical education programming. Welcome, Dr. Tamati!
