Nadine Whiteman and Karen Carver
This summer, the OSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic partnered with SLP, Karen Carver, and Therapy Strides, to launch an innovative pilot program for children. The 20-hour summer camp experience took place at Benson Oaks Farm in Blacklick, Ohio, and featured nature and horses as therapy tools. Each child received both individualized and group therapy from licensed SLPs and some of our MA-SLP students under the supervision of Clinical Instructor, Nadine Whiteman.
"There isn't anything better for calming the autonomic system to prepare the body and mind for instruction than nature. Neural connections are being made in 3-D. You combine these ingredients along with the expertise of SLPs who consistently practice at the top of their licensure, and you have a recipe for astonishing learner outcomes." -Karen Carver
