Application and Registration Process

Application and Registration Process

The deadline to submit requests to enroll in Summer 2026 courses was April 17, 2026.

Summer Prerequisite Bridge Program courses differ from regular OSU courses. Main differences include:

  • Students (including current OSU Speech and Hearing Science majors) are not able to self-enroll in courses. The Department of Speech and Hearing Science will coordinate the process for getting you enrolled in the course(s).
  • Students (including current OSU Speech and Hearing Science majors) must complete the Summer Prerequisite Bridge Program Enrollment Form by April 17, 2026, for Summer 2026 courses.
  • Out of state students are not charged the non-Ohio resident surcharge for these courses.
  • Courses are not eligible for OSU faculty and staff or dependent tuition assistance.
  • Financial Aid eligibility may vary depending on your situation.
  • These courses are not administered through the Bursar. Therefore, they will not be reflected on an OSU Statement of Account. Invoices may be requested.
  • Course costs are structured differently than regular OSU courses. Refer to the Cost and Payment page.
  • Payment is collected by a third-party vendor; payment must be submitted by check or money order. Credit card payments are not an option for these courses.
  • Refunds for dropped courses work differently. Refer to the Cost and Payment page.

Additional Important Information

Application Fees

New students (no previous Ohio State enrollment) will be charged a non-refundable application fee ($60 for domestic applicants; $70 for non-U.S. citizens).

All former transient/visitor students must reapply each year. Transient/visitor students can attend Ohio State for one term per 12 consecutive months. Formerly enrolled transient visitor students (who previously paid an application fee) may reapply with no additional application fee. Email extendeded@osu.edu to verify if you are eligible to apply without paying another application fee.

Holds on Ohio State Record

If you were previously enrolled at OSU, and there is a hold on your student account, you will need to work with the Buckeye Link office to clear the hold before you can be registered for courses.

Health Insurance

It is important that you have coverage for unexpected medical care during the time you are enrolled in your contract course(s). International registrants are required to have at least $50,000 of medical benefits per accident or illness or be fully sponsored by their government. Note that enrollment in contract courses is exempt from OSU Student Health Insurance coverage

Name Change

If you were previously enrolled at OSU and your name has changed, complete a Request for Change of Record through the University Registrar.
