The Therapy Strides horse camp occurred across 3 individual weeks during the summer term. 18 children attended and built their communication skills in the naturalistic environment with horses. 10 graduate speech-language clinicians participated in the instruction under the supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists. The graduate students gained valuable experience utilizing thematic activities and implementing instruction in various communication areas including receptive and expressive language, social language, and speech sound production. The organizer of the camp, Karen Carver, speech-language pathologist, has been coordinating with Nadine Whiteman with the OSU Department of Speech and Hearing Science to provide the camp experience for the participating children and for the clinical experiences for the graduate clinicians.
