First-year M.A. (now second-year) graduate clinicians along with their clinic preceptor Dr. Amy Miller Sonntag and AAC Connections hosted several specialized summer groups to support and empower device users:
- Healthcare Self-Advocacy: Clients customized their communication devices with tailored vocabulary to better interact with medical professionals.
- Inclusive Book Clubs: Three distinct book club groups provided a relaxed environment for clients to discuss stories featuring characters who also use AAC.
- Communication Passports: Clients and care providers collaborated to create personalized "passports" outlining the client's optimal communication strategies and essential support needs.
