Congratulations to Prof. Stacy Harnish for being awarded the Joan N. Huber Fellowship from the OSU College of Arts and Sciences. This fellowship program recognizes some of the strongest scholars in the social and behavioral sciences disciplines. The fellowship is supported from endowment funds in honor of Dr. Joan Huber, who in her own scholarly career and as Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences from 1984-1992 set the highest standards for all.
Prof. Harnish is an established leader in study of treatment for aphasias, which are language impairments that often occur after stroke and other acquired brain injuries. She directs the Aphasia Laboratory and works closely with the Aphasia Initiative. She is also an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist and teaches in our graduate speech-language pathology program. Her work has been funded by multiple agencies including the National Institutes of Health, The Veterans Health Administration, and the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
