Non-Native English Speakers and International Students
The Master of Arts Speech-Language Pathology program has two levels of English language requirements:
- OSU’s Graduate School requires proof of English proficiency for international students.
- This is typically a TOEFL score.
- Students with bachelor’s degrees or higher from certain countries are exempt from this requirement, and details are available on OSUs Graduate and Professional Admissions website.
- This is typically a TOEFL score.
- The Department of Speech and Hearing Science requires all students who are not native speakers of English to demonstrate additional English proficiency before beginning clinical training.
- Students must take the Oral Proficiency Assessment offered by OSU’s English as a Second Language Program and score a C4 or a C5 in order to begin clinical placements.
Please contact Graduate Program Coordinator, Sarah Wendel, at wendel.13@osu.edu if you have any questions about these requirements.
