Edward C. Brown, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at The Ohio State University, where he directs the Flaum Center for Stuttering. As a person who stutters, speech-language pathologist, and researcher, Dr. Brown brings a holistic perspective to his work, which strives to advance the understanding of stuttering and improve outcomes for children, adolescents, and adults who stutter, as well as their families. His research investigates: 1) the feasibility and implementation of identity-affirming stuttering therapy, 2) the underlying neurophysiological differences that contribute to speech motor control in adults who stutter, and 3) vocal congruence in people who stutter. In addition to his time in the classroom and clinic, Dr. Brown is active with the National Stuttering Association, serving as Family Chapter Leader of the Columbus chapter and as a member of its Young Adults Committee and WeStutter@Work Mentorship Committee. His overall mission is to bridge research and lived experience in order to expand access to affirming, effective care for people who stutter.
