MA-SLP Program Strategic Plan (5 Year Plan) for 2020-2024
The MA-SLP program at The Ohio State University is one of the top-ranking programs in the country. In order to continue to improve and expand our program we have developed the following strategic plan:
1. Achieve Top 15 US World and News Ranking
The MA-SLP program is currently one of the top 20 programs in the United States. In an effort to achieve a top 15 ranking we will continue to support the research activities of the tenure track faculty so they can engage in research that moves the field of speech and hearing sciences forward. We will also continue to support the specialized clinical placements developed by our clinical faculty including the Flaum Fluency Program, the Aphasia Initiative, the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Clinic, and providing services to underserved populations.
2. Increase the diversity of faculty, staff, students in SHS
The faculty of the MA-SLP committee is committed to improving the diversity of the MASLP program. To increase diversity we will recruit students from underrepresented groups and use the results of departmental climate surveys to improve the climate of the MA-SLP program in order to ensure adequate support of students from underrepresented groups. The faculty will continue to complete diversity trainings in order to increase the awareness of the issues that students who are underrepresented may face and ensure that we provide an educational climate that is supportive of students from all backgrounds.
3. Enhance and Expand MA SLP Program
We will continue to enhance and expand the MA-SLP program through the development of certificate programs. In addition, we will create an elective course in Interprofessional education/Interprofessional practice and become active members of the Interprofessional committee in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
