The Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association (OSLHA) hosted the 16th Annual Student Leadership Development Program on Friday, September 19 in Columbus, Ohio. This program is designed for currently enrolled communication disorders students to:
- Support education and training in the general area of leadership
- Provide basic understanding of the process and strategies for effective advocacy
- Encourage and facilitate lasting leadership opportunities for graduates of the program
Programming included a full day of sessions addressing leadership skills, legislative advocacy, diversity in leadership, and an opportunity to integrate with leaders in the OSLHA community. Students interacted with various established leaders in the field and engage in personal development activities such as team building, skills identification and leadership practice. Sixteen participants representing several Ohio-based universities were selected to participate in the event through a competitive application process.
OSU Participants:

Samantha (Sami) Shaffer, second-year MA-SLP student
