Jason Wigand elected Vice President of National Student Academy of Audiology Board

Jason Wigand is a 3rd year student in the doctor of audiology program pursuing his Au.D. at The Ohio State University.  He is the current president of Ohio State’s chapter of the Student Academy of Audiology where he also served as secretary during the 2011-2012 academic year.

Jason earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and Spanish from the University of Kentucky in 1996.  Prior to his graduate studies in audiology, Jason had a 15-year career in management with FedEx.

While pursuing his degree at Ohio State, Jason has worked as a research associate for Bomjun Kwon, Ph.D. and as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences.  Jason is currently working on his research capstone in the Speech Psychoacoustics Laboratory under the guidance of Eric W. Healy, Ph.D.  Additionally, Jason is a committee member for the Central Ohio Hearing Loss Association of America, a network volunteer for Cochlear Americas, and the university advisor for Distance4Dreams, a service organization that fundraises to sponsor the wish of a local child with a life-threatening disease.

After his 2014 graduation, Jason intends to go into private clinical practice with a focus on pediatrics, early intervention in hearing loss and auditory implants.  He lives in Columbus with his wife and two young children.
