Barry L. Baker, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a Ph.D. candidate in Speech and Hearing Science in the Speech Psychoacoustics Laboratory under advisor, Dr. Eric Healy. His research interests include age-related degeneration of absolute pitch (AP) perception in musically-skilled individuals. He also received individualized instruction in psychoacoustics from Dr. Lawrence Feth, and in phonetics from Dr. Robert Fox. As a graduate teaching associate at OSU, Barry instructed two terms of the course, Principles of Phonetics. After earning a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Cincinnati, he practiced as a clinical speech-language pathologist in the medical field for seven years. He also holds undergraduate degrees in the fields of Piano Performance and Broadcasting, and was a professional musician for many years.
