Stacy Harnish studies treatment for language impairment after stroke and other acquired brain injuries. She directs the Aphasia Laboratory and works closely with the Aphasia Initiative. She advises students at all levels in conducting studies related to aphasia and language processing changes with age. PhD students are active collaborators and contribute to the lab’s collective work, as well as their own independent lines of research. Stacy is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist with research interests in aphasia treatment, including cognitive and genetic predictors of response to restorative intervention. Her work has been funded by multiple agencies including the National Institutes of Health, The Veterans Health Administration, and the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.  Stacy teaches courses in adult language disorders and counseling.
