For the second consecutive summer, the OSU Aphasia Initiative has partnered with Grange Insurance Audubon Center to provide our members with aphasia a volunteer experience in the community. The Audubon center offers engaging hands-on activities and opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature in the heart of downtown Columbus. Aphasia Initiative members, with the support of undergraduate and graduate students, worked as volunteers to help the center with a wide variety of tasks such as: preparing kids’ camp materials, restocking brochures and backpacks, and organizing the library. Members also participated in the kids’ camp story time by reading books to the campers. This partnership has been a wonderful experience for everyone.
