This past May, members of the OSU Aphasia Lab travelled to Waikoloa Beach, Hawaii for the annual Clinical Aphasiology Conference (CAC). OSU faculty member Dr. Stacy M. Harnish, PhD CCC-SLP, PhD, Courtney Jewell, M.A. CCC-SLP, and Grace Terry, M.A. CF-SLP all attended the conference.
Courtney Jewell, 5th year PhD student, presented a poster presentation at the conference titled “Changes in Acute Stress Over the Course of Treatment for Anomia”. She was awarded the Research Symposium in Clinical Aphasiology Student Fellowship funded by the National Institute of Health, National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. Courtney also served as the Junior Mentor for the Clinical Aphasiology Conference Marilyn Newhoff Mentorship Luncheon.
Grace Terry, 2nd year PhD student, presented a platform presentation as part of the first annual CAC Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) conference segment. Her presentation was titled “Socio-Economic Considerations Surrounding Speech Therapy Locations Post Stroke”. CAC was a fantastic way to present new research coming out of the Aphasia Lab while also being opportunity to learn from other aphasiologists around the world about their latest studies.
