There are many cultural and family considerations when customizing an augmentative and alternative communication system. In July, Dr. Sonntag hosted Karina Saecho, MA, CCC-SLP and a PhD student from the University of Kansas, to present “AAC for All: Decreasing Barriers and Increasing Equity Across Communities.” Ms. Saecho shared information on how to collaborate with families on their cultural and linguistic needs of people who use AAC are met. This webinar was attended by students in the MA SLP program and more than 50 practicing SLPs in Ohio and other parts of the US.
