Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Dr. Tamati’s research focuses on understanding real-world speech communication in adults with hearing loss and cochlear implants. Her research investigates how social, cognitive, and linguistic processes support successful communication in everyday environments, with the goals of uncovering underlying mechanisms and improving clinical interventions.

The overarching aim of her research program is to enhance quality of life for adults with hearing loss by advancing our understanding of speech communication and translating findings into practical solutions. Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation, American Neurotology Society, American Hearing Research Foundation, and industry partners.

In addition to her research, Dr. Tamati enjoys working with students at all levels and across disciplines on lab-related and independent research projects. If you are interested in working in the lab, please reach out!
