Assistant/Associate Professor Position

Description: The Department of Speech and Hearing Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio State invites applications for an expected regular, tenure-track faculty at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the area of speech science/speech-language pathology whose research is in the area of normal voice and voice disorders.  In addition to scholarship, this individual will contribute to the Department’s teaching and service missions.  He/she will teach courses in basic sciences (e.g., speech/voice science, phonetics, anatomy and physiology of the speech mechanisms) as well as courses in more clinically applied areas (e.g., voice disorders).  Because this research area is inherently interdisciplinary, it is expected that the successful candidate will work on collaborative projects such as those that currently exist with Psychology, Otolaryngology and/or Music (and the Singing Health Specialization).

Qualifications:  Applicants must have a PhD in Speech and Hearing Science, Communicative Disorders, or a related field, and will likely have postdoctoral training. The successful junior candidate will possess training under an internationally-recognized expert, an emerging publication record, and strong potential for extramural funding (NIH).  A successful mid-career candidate will possess a strong record of publications and extramural funding.  Although not required, preference may be given to applicants with clinical certification in speech-language pathology.

Application Instructions:  Applicants should submit a letter of application (including a description of research focus), curriculum vitae, and the names of three recommenders to: Rebecca McCauley, Professor, Chair of the Voice Search Committee, The Ohio State University, Department of Speech and Hearing Science, 110 Pressey Hall, 1070 Carmack Rd., Columbus, OH 43210-1002 (phone:614-292-1802; email: mccauley.90@osu.edu).  Deadline for full consideration is December 15, 2013.

To build a diverse workforce Ohio State encourages applications from individuals with disabilities, minorities, veterans, and women. EEO/AA employer.
